FAWCO
Founded in 1931, FAWCO is an international network of independent clubs and associations spanning six continents with a total membership of 8,000 - 10,000 individuals. Its mission is:
- to build strong support networks for its American and international membership;
- to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide;
- to advocate for the rights of U.S. citizens overseas; and
- to mobilize the skills of its membership in support of global initiatives for education, the environment, health and human rights.
FAWCO Region 5 Meeting 2018 in Heidelberg Attendees
As a member of FAWCO’s Region 5 (Germany and Austria), the AIWC Cologne enjoys close relationships with sister clubs in our area. We meet once a year in the fall to share ideas, support one another and participate in cultural programs.
Additionally, FAWCO hosts a global conference each year where members meet face to face to engage and inspire one another. It is an opportunity to learn about recent achievements and future plans, and to explore ways in which we can all be involved.

FAWCO Facts:
- FAWCO has held special consultative status to the UN Economic and Social Council since 1997.
- FAWCO was instrumental in the creation of the Americans Abroad Caucus and representatives attend Overseas Americans Week in Washington each year to advocate on issues related to US Citizenship, Tax and Banking, and US Voting from Overseas.
- FAWCO has representatives at the United Nations in New York, Geneva, Vienna, Athens and Bonn, with positions on the Boards of the NGO Committees on the Status of Women in New York, Geneva and Vienna, and the NGO Committee on Migration in New York.
- The FAWCO Foundation distributes approximately $30,000 in Education Awards to FAWCO/FAUSA members and their children each year!
- FAWCO Youth has hosted Cultural Volunteer programs in Dubai, Shanghai, Mumbai, Dublin, Berlin, Athens and Amsterdam!
